Staying active during your high school years is a big component on how you "set the tone" for how your body can turn out in adult hood. Now, you can always lose weight and change your body; but if you do happen to treat it wrong, that doesn't amount to the permanent damage done to your body if you let yourself become a "couch potato." By becoming less active you can become very lethargic , you can develop hyperthyroidism ( Thyroid disease), and you can just gain a lot of weight.
Ways to stay active:
There are many ways you can stay active in high school. With school sports, having access to your local fitness center, or even just owning a pair of tennis shoes and running the possibilities are endless on how to stay active. We personally prefer to participate in school sports because not only are they fun and keep you in good shape, but there's also nothing else like giving it all in front of your own communities and yes, even that special someone. Some of the sports we here at Healthy Teens like to participate in are football, basketball, baseball, and track and field, but that's not all the sports available. Depending on what your high school offers, sports can include: archery, baseball, basketball, bowling, cheerleading, cross country, dance, drill, field hockey, football, golf, gymnastics, hockey, lacrosse, martial arts, rowing, rugby, skiing, softball, swimming, tennis, track, volleyball, water polo, and wrestling. Aren't a big sports person? No worries! Like I was saying, there are many other ways to stay active in high school besides sports such as: weight-lifting, running, swimming, jump-rope, aerobics, pilates, and other conditioning exercises that are both fun and good for you. As you can see, the possibilities are endless on what you can do to stay healthy and look good throughout your high school years.
